Food Festival

Cayman's longest running culinary event is the annual Pirates Week Food Festival.



Traditional food

The cultural culinary event flaunting the best of Cayman's local cooks and showcasing a myriad of traditional dishes including the Cayman Islands' national dish, turtle stew alongside favourites like stewed conch and Cayman style lobster. The festival also boasts international cuisine including authentic Mexican, Asian and American dishes; as well as Jamaica's famous Jerk.

Benefits and exposure

While the Food Festival acts as a means for people to earn additional revenue during the busy festival season, many take the opportunity to showcase their talents while receiving the desired exposure to market themselves within the food industry. Up-and-coming chefs are encouraged to sign up and at minimum provide one special dish!
Another benefit is the social aspect; many view the festival as a social gathering; meeting to break bread with old friends and celebrate all things Cayman.


The Pirates Week Food Festival also offers attendees tasty bites like traditional Cayman "Cassava Stretcher" (also known as "Heavy Cake" because of its thick consistency), sno cones, pop corn and other home-made sweets and beverages.

Dates,times and location

The Food Festival takes place on Friday 10th November from 6:00 pm to 2:00 am and on Saturday, 11th November from 12:00 pm to 12:00 am.
Held just off Shedden Road in the adjacent parking lots of Kirk Freeport and Royal Bank of Canada, the Food Festival is just around the corner from the best in local entertainment, and cultural displays. 

Food standards

Food For the safety of festivalgoers, all food vendors are vetted by the Pirates Week Administration to ensure they meet the high standards of food preparation certification required by the Cayman Islands Department of Environmental Health.


The Pirates Week Food Festival is now in it's 40th year and all are invited to come out and enjoy the best of Cayman's cultural cuisine; most food is served in take-out plates and will start at around CI$12/USD$15.
