The National Festival officially gets underway with people of all ages taking to the street to compete in the Pirates Week 5K Run.

Sponsored by the Ministry of Sports, the 5K Run is organised by the Pirates Week Office in conjunction with the Cayman Islands Athletic Association. Beginning at 5pm, the race starts and finishes on Harbour Drive. For runners that would like to register early, visit the Pirates Week Office from 9am-5pm on 11-12 November and on 13 November from 9am-3pm. Runners can also register last minute between 3.30 pm and 4:30 pm on the day at the Bay Shore Mall which is in the immediate vicinity of the start/finish area. On a night that promises a great show and fantastic entertainment, the 5K race is great prelude event. Finishing on Harbour Drive shortly before the fireworks display ensures enthusiastic spectators cheering the runners to the finish. The awards will be presented on the Goring Avenue stage before a welcoming crowd. Awards are presented to the first three runners in each age group.
